In brightest day, in blackest night (style tips)

I've always loved going to the beach, I know it sounds strange, but winter time is actually one of my favorite times to go. Not to swim or anything, but just being there with the cold crisp winter sea air caressing my face, a wonderful feeling. Enough about me though, let's talk about you, what do you like? WHOA WAIT, we're not speed dating.

But really though, the best thing about the winter beach is the beautiful colors of the rain clouds and the sun. Especially if you've got a dark "supernatural-esque*outfit on. If any of you watch the show supernatural and you're desiring a similar style/look, it's actually a pretty simple look to achieve, and here's how!

To achieve a supernatural (The TV series) style in an outfit:
1. Saturation (Or de-saturation actually, the tv series has a very dark mood/setting. The outfits they use help achieve that feel by dressing the main characters with desaturated colors, a couple safe choices are such [most are faded}: Olive green, Navy Blue)
2. Dark colors (They very rarely use bright colors, when they do, the screen is over-layed with deep blue hues to darken the color anyways. If you want to have a darker look, obviously darker colors are a safe choice)
3. Don't layer same colors (Even though their colors are dark and bland due to de-saturation, there is always contrast. The last thing you want to do is end up wearing all black and looking like a goth teen, which is very possible, of course unless if you are a goth teen and you enjoy looking like it. In which case, enjoy)
4. Wear blue denim pants (From what I've seen on the show, they don't wear much of anything but blue denim for bottoms, which is great, blue denim keeps things very casual, but clean and rugged at all times)

And of course if you're like me and enjoy feeling epic, carry an awesome lantern with you. Pretend it wards of ghosts or something, regardless, people will ask you what it's for. When they do, smash it over their head and take their wallet and leave a note that says, "For such occasions". Jk. but not really. But really. ANYWAYS, enjoy!

January is the month that cares (ft. COACH)

Photos by: Bethany Struble                                Backpack by: Coach

There are times in a man's life when He feels worthy of his craft. That moment for me in blogging came when Coach approached me via e-mail and asked me if I wanted anything from their site. Like any kid growing up with simple hand-me-down clothes, I flipped out. I went on the site and picked out the most expensive thing. Jk....but not really. So after a week of waiting anxiously, this beautiful God-sent bag came waiting for me on my doorstep. It was even more beautiful in person than it was on the internet. The best part is, it's the same bag Bilbo Baggins had in "The Hobbit".

So just a quick review about the bag if anyone is interested in purchasing a similar bag from coach:
1. Very spacious (you can honestly fit like your own little hobbit in there, that is...if you're into smuggling little people in your bags)
2. Sturdy (When I first got the bag, I treated it like a little newborn baby. Never let anyone touch it and kept everything away from it, but I soon realized after dropping it on cement and seeing it unscathed just how sturdy this newborn baby is)
3. Aesthetically pleasing (Leather goes well with a lot of things just as accents or even main pieces. sadly it's classiness clashes with a lot of socal outfits I have...I guess I better get a whole new wardrobe :D)

Also for those of you who are wondering what's going on with my glove/sweater, it's just an old v-neck sweater I got at a thrift store that had moth holes on the sleeve cuff so I just stuck my thumb in it. Though it is useful for a lot of styling needs, so if you're bored and want to get the same desired look, stay tuned, I'll post something about it sometimes soon!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Photos by: Bethany Struble                             Shirt by: Pacsun                      Sweater by: H&M                      Pants by: Kasil Workshop

It's officially "Christmas Season"! I see folks running around wearing scarves and ugly sweaters and I think to myself...Bro it's only 70 degrees. But really. I feel as if cold fashion doesn't really exist too much in socal, well I mean it does in the mornings but come 12 PM, all the sweaters come off. Ironically the scarves stay on. Don't ask me why, it still baffles me. Even this look got unbearably hot by 12 PM. Probably more suited for a colder environment.

For this look, I decided to throw on this ginormous sweater to balance the denim levels. By only letting a little bit of denim shirt peep out, it creates more of a denim "accent" look instead of a denim heavy look, which isn't what I was going for in the first place. It's something I like to do with my shirts when I feel they're a bit strong aesthetically. Which is good! Denim on denim is doable and good in the right amounts, but some peeps just wanna break "the fashion law" and just throw on a bunch of denim pieces, which can be rather disastrous at times.

Things to think about when wearing denim pieces together:
-Color (if the two pieces vary greatly in color, it can either complement each other or...just make you look like your grandad...who wasn't very stylish)
-Amount (if you throw on denim everything, and they're all in the same texture and color, it sort of just blends it all together, making you look like a land whale..whatever that is)
-texture (DO NOT WEAR obvious jeggings with raw denim. ever. I see it and it's almost obvious that you bought your sh*t from TV late at night while watching CSI law and order. STAHP. honestly, I'm sure your pajama jeans are very comfortable but they don't go well with raw denim)
-Size (just like all clothing pieces, size is probably one of the most important things. Don't wear your tight *ss skinny jeans that you got from hot topic while trying to hit on the cashier, with your dad's old big Dole denim jacket. You'll look like a denim balloon. An ugly one. One Kylie wouldn't even wanna play with)

Alright I hope that all helps.

Kickin it old school

Photos by: Nick Sutjongdro                                     Pants by: Pacsun

Kind of a late blog post seeing as how this look was posted about a week or so ago, but you guys forgive me right? Anyways, here are a couple of the pictures from the shoot. I decided to go back to my old signature styles of being extremely basic and laid back for this outfit. This is what I'd usually wear on a day to day basis anyways, now I know what you're thinking, "liek omg peter, you're such a basic b*tch!" well yes reader, yes, you're right. I AM a basic b*tch. AND I LOVE IT.

The Study

Photos by: Bethany Struble                            Shirt by: KR3W

Thanksgiving is an American holiday, one of the most that I enjoy. This past weekend I had the pleasure to take time off and just enjoy life in San Diego. I spent a big portion of the morning reading in the study and playing with this beautiful dog. She loved me, no doubt. I haven't really updated this blog with anything dapper and basic lately, so I figured this would be a nice change :] I hope you all enjoy!

Skeleton Jack

Photos by: Nick Sutjongdro                               Headphones by: Skull Candy                        Jacket: Joon's closet

A while back I was gifted these amazing headphones by skull candy. Having previously worked at a Zumiez in my earlier years, I know just how coveted these bad boys were. But these headphones weren't just a fancy name, not only were they stylish, but also incredibly convenient. honestly tho, foam padding, big muffs. They're hater-proof. Not to mention they have a metal skull insignia on it, which makes it an instant must-have. The video is now in production for all those of you who are waiting...all....2 or 3 of you. Will be up around december, hopefully not that long but we'll see, maybe in a week or so. Preproduction, nahmmmsengggggggg?!

Thank God for this changing weather, it's finally begun to get colder. Which means, I can actually wear layers....not just photograph them and switch back to t-shirts and jeans. Oh style bloggin...so deceiving. I hope you're all having a good Fall/dry season?...or is it wet season, idk man, idk.
